Bill legalizing assisted dying approved by French National Assembly as calls for it increase

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChLtXXpo4Ge1ReTEboVvTDg https://ift.tt/5K9H2xG Lawmakers in the French National Assembly voted in favour of a bill to legalize assisted dying on Tuesday, making France the latest of several European nations to allow medically assisted death for people above the age of 18 with terminal illness. Though a whopping 305 — out of 561 unanimous voters — went in favour of the legislation to be passed, the bill still must go forward to the Senate, where it will be debated further. Year-long calls for this law to be in place have rung out across Europe for years. In fact, a recent poll revealed that more than 90 per cent of the French population believes in laws that give terminally ill, or suffering people, the right to choose if they die. French President Emmanuel Macron took to X, hailing Tuesday’s result as “an important step” forward.
