“All that money goes toward the war against Ukraine.... This is a weak decision by strong partners,” Zelenskyy said during a public WhatsApp call Friday.
Asked about Zelesnkyy’s criticism of him later in the day, Trump avoided a direct answer and told reporters: “We are a strong partner… and this is diesel, which is what we need... Oil prices are already dropping like a rock, so we're very happy to get it.”
Citizens in Kyiv, too, cast doubt on the deal amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, suggesting Moscow would not deliver on its promises of large quantities of diesel.
