Cornell and its judicial system have failed Jane Doe and countless other survivors.” One protester spoke to the crowd. “We can be the students that lead a nationwide reform movement against the institutions that perpetuate rape at every single level,” another said. Faculty stood alongside the students and spoke out at the protest who demanded the university rewrite the school’s sexual harassment policy, expel the perpetrators and revoke their degrees. The victim, identified only as Jane Doe in court documents, told campus police in November of 2024 that she was sexually assaulted, then discussed it with the university’s internal investigators as part of Cornell’s disciplinary process. The investigation initially was closed without charges in 2024.
