Australia blames Iran for antisemitic attacks, expels ambassador in rare move

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChLtXXpo4Ge1ReTEboVvTDg https://ift.tt/hOl0Roi Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese accused Iran on Tuesday of directing two antisemitic arson attacks in the cities of Sydney and Melbourne, and ordered the expulsion of Tehran’s ambassador, giving him seven days to leave the country. It is the first time Australia has expelled a diplomatic envoy since World War Two. Australia is the latest Western government to accuse Iran of carrying out hostile covert activities on its soil, after Britain, France and the U.S. all condemned what they said was a surge in assassination, kidnapping and harassment plots by Iranian intelligence services. Albanese said the Australian Security Intelligence Organization had gathered credible intelligence that Iran was behind at least two attacks in the country. The government has also designated Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization.
