https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChLtXXpo4Ge1ReTEboVvTDg https://ift.tt/OScFLvW The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has provided an update on the fatal plane crash that killed all nine people on board Sunday.
Two flight crew members and seven passengers were aboard the Learjet 60 private jet which rapidly descended at roughly 22,000 feet per minute before nosediving and crashing outside of a neighbourhood in Palm Beach County, Fla., NTSB board member Tom Chapman confirmed.
While audio capturing the final moments of co-pilot and Miami air traffic control reveals the aircraft was “encountering light clear ice” and experiencing “moderate turbulence” before crashing — something Chapman said was “certainly a factor” behind the crash — the NTSB is still trying to determine whether there was a block box recorder on the private jet to further the investigation.
Furthermore, one other person was injured as a result of the incident, the NTSB said. A man, whose care was adjacent to the crater formed by the plane when it crashed, suffered injuries to his leg.
Though the investigation is still underway, weather conditions are currently a “major focus,” Chapman said.
