What is ball lightning? Rare weather phenomenon caught on camera in Alberta

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChLtXXpo4Ge1ReTEboVvTDg https://ift.tt/pVsQKyj A rare and mysterious weather event was caught on camera in Alberta. Ed and Melinda Pardy stepped onto the back porch of their home near Rich Valley, Alta., just before 7 p.m. on July 2, 2025 to get a closer look at a storm passing through which featured fierce lightning. After a strike, they suddenly noticed a large ball of light hovering above the ground. It lingered for a few seconds before disappearing. What they had managed to film was ball lightning, and as Kristi Gordon explains, it's a natural event that scientists are still trying to understand and of which only a handful of occurrences have been captured on camera.
