The study, done by the Fraser Institute, looks at several factors including surgical wait times, number of doctors, and the availability of medical devices. It reveals access to healthcare in Sweden is significantly better than in Canada, in many different respects. Fraser Institute Senior Fellow Yanick Labrie says part of Sweden's success comes from how the system is structured to incorporate both public and private care. “When I see competition, it's not necessarily a competition between private primary care providers. It's between a diversity of providers, be they public or private, and it works,” Labrie said. Health reporter Katherine Ward explains.
