"The European Union was formed in order to screw the United States," Trump said, adding that the tariffs would apply to various items, including cars, and would be set at 25%. We are used to this method," French government spokesperson Sophie Primas said on Thursday. “This is not the right choice, I think it’s really toxic for our transatlantic relationship, but also a really big challenge for our European agriculture sector as well as for the American one,” the bloc’s Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Christophe Hansen said.
