After speaking negatively about the NAFTA deal — which was superseded and replaced by CUSMA in 2020 — Trump said, “we’ll see if we do something.” As of this writing, the U.S. and Canada have yet to plan negotiations for the mandatory CUSMA review, amid a strained relationship — though Canada-U.S. Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc paid a visit to Washington earlier in the month with efforts to push for formal discussions. Mexico, on the other hand, had officials meet with their U.S. counterparts last week.
