Hundreds of homeowners across Montreal's West Island and South Shore are assessing damage to their properties following this weekend’s flooding. “The power went out, my sump pump didn't work. There was no way to stop it.” Stephen Lister, a Pierrefonds resident said. Some areas received as much as 150 millimetres of rain within a few hours from the sudden, unexpected storm. “What we had on Saturday was a train of thunderstorms in the same place in the same line,” Environment and Climate Change Meteorologist Simon Legault said.
