https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChLtXXpo4Ge1ReTEboVvTDg https://ift.tt/0ZJRMQO Temperatures are set to climb across Europe on Monday, with a projected 40C in Nantes, France, according to Windy.com, as the region braces for a heatwave.
A severe heatwave gripped much of Europe on Sunday, with temperatures nearing 40C in some places, prompting nationwide warnings, transport disruption and signs of strain on wildlife and at tourist hotspots.
"I suppose the whole global warming thing is pretty concerning of course. And yeah, it, it is worrying for the future; the whole of Europe I think is under a huge heat wave. So I suppose we're going to have to change a lot of what we do, but, yeah it's difficult to know what that is,” a Londoner said.
The spike in temperatures is being driven by a mass of hot air moving north from the Sahara, fuelled by a strong high‑pressure system known as the "African anticyclone."
Meteorologists say the system is creating a so‑called "heat dome," trapping hot air over western and central Europe and allowing temperatures to build day after day.
