According to a spokesperson, negotiations will continue next month for a permanent peace deal. However, Hezbollah and Israel continue to exchange strikes amid the peace talks, with Israel striking southern Lebanon, killing 6 people on Friday. Lebanese residents on Saturday welcomed the ceasefire extension, expressing relief but urging that it must lead to lasting peace after decades of conflict. “We accept that this ceasefire would definitely lead to a (real) ceasefire in the south, because what's happening is heartbreaking. This destruction and devastation that's taking place isn't for Lebanon - it's for foreign agendas,” one Beirut resident said.
