In an already busy holiday travel season, travellers experienced multiple hour-long delays with some left stranded. “We've arranged a day trip to go to a theme park just on the other side of Belgium,” English traveller Alison Raby described her situation. "We were supposed to leave at 8:24 this morning and it is now 12:32. Our train back is at 7 o'clock this evening, so there's no point in us going now and we're stuck in the traffic with everybody, and we can't leave because technically we're in France, so we're stuck, basically," she added. The stuck Le Shuttle train, which carries both vehicles and passengers through The Channel Tunnel, has since been removed from the tunnel and service is slowly resuming. Eurostar has since apologized for the disruptions and provided refunds for affected passengers.
