https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChLtXXpo4Ge1ReTEboVvTDg https://ift.tt/RfPgT54 Duncan Okindo, a 26-year-old Kenyan with a diploma in media studies, thought he was leaving Nairobi for a customer service job in Thailand. Instead, he found himself trafficked to Myanmar, forced to work in one of the country’s notorious scam cities, using artificial intelligence tools like ChatGPT to defraud U.S. real estate agents. Okindo says he was lured by a Kenyan agent he had known for some time. Struggling to support his parents and younger sisters, he saw overseas work as a lifeline. “I was hoping for Dubai,” he said. “But she told me there were jobs in Thailand, and they were recruiting fast.” From the moment he left, Okindo was monitored. He says they took photos of him at the airport, right up to the plane. He later realized it was proof I had been ‘bought’, sold to the people running the scam city. Kenyan authorities say Okindo is one of dozens trafficked to Southeast Asia in recent years. In April, 78 Kenyans were repatriated from Myanmar.
