Memorials across Europe held in honour of devastating Berlin Pride attack victims

Memorials were seen in Berlin and Amsterdam, with community members laying flowers, candles and handwritten messages of love and support. Sheldon, an attendee of Amsterdam’s memorial at the city’s Homomonument, spoke on the attack saying, “we just have to keep pulling together, to show that love is stronger." A man drove a van into a crowd near Berlin’s Pride festival Saturday night before apparently stabbing others with a machete in what authorities believe was an Islamic extremist terror attack. The suspect, Abdul Ballout, a 21-year-old German citizen with Lebanese roots, was shot and killed by police during a confrontation on Sunday in a suburb of the city, authorities said.
