Chinese tariffs on Canadian canola will have a "devastating impact," Premier Moe warns

"That will have a devastating impact on the price points for Saskatchewan's canola industry... This hit will stop a significant amount of trade that is flowing into China today," Moe said. He emphasized that this move could severely impact the province's canola industry, which is valued at approximately $43 to $45 billion and supports over 200,000 jobs annually. "Canola grocers hit with these Chinese tariffs, I would say that they deserve the same attention by our federal government and our prime minister, as we are seeing in other industries," Moe said, urging Carney to engage with China and start the advancement of the conversations to find a way to a "solid and secure" trade environment.
