The United Kingdom is calling on both Israel and Hamas to commit to long-term sustainable peace in Gaza, and for Hamas to release the remaining hostages. Starmer made the announcement after recalling his cabinet during summer holidays to discuss a proposed new peace plan and efforts to increase aid deliveries to the besieged enclave. Successive British governments have said they would eventually recognize a Palestinian state without offering a timetable or necessary conditions.
