Work resumed at first light on Saturday, using one of Europe’s most powerful maritime cranes to lift the 56-metre Bayesian from the seabed. Crews began pumping out seawater as the badly damaged vessel broke the surface. The Bayesian had been anchored off the small port of Porticello, near Palermo, when it was struck by a sudden storm last August. According to a preliminary British report released last month, the yacht was likely overturned by strong winds.
