Canada announces new sanctions against Russia, over $4B in military support for Ukraine

Carney said sanctions would be applied to several individuals, as well as over 40 Russian entities and more than 200 vessels in Russia’s shadow fleet. The prime minister also announced more than $2 billion in military assistance to Ukraine, which will include drones, helicopter and broader munitions. In addition, he said, Canada would supply Ukraine with more than $2 billion as part of a loan derived from frozen Russian assets.
