You and I would likely be paying two to three times as much for an iPhone,” technology analyst and journalist Carmi Levy says. His comments come after U.S. President Donald Trump promised a 25 per cent tariff on smartphones not made in the U.S., singling out Apple and Samsung. Levy says the U.S. could not produce iPhones and other tech products on the scale they are made in China, adding that the U.S. workforce is less productive and that labour costs are higher.
