CU Apartheid Divest (CUAD) protestors wearing keffiyeh headscarves and masks demanded the school enforce a strike and sever its financial ties with companies linked to Israel’s military – amid the Israel-Hamas war. Additionally, civil rights advocates have accused CU of curbing free speech after facing pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump – who, in March, cancelled hundreds of millions of dollars in scientific research grants over the protests. Trump has deemed nationwide protests both “antisemitic” and a massive safety concern for Jewish students and is working to deport many international students with a pro-Palestinian alignment.
