https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChLtXXpo4Ge1ReTEboVvTDg https://ift.tt/amlEt0s Canadian Defence Minister David McGuinty has provided an update on the victims of the fatal grass fire that killed four soldiers at CFB Wainwright in Alberta last Saturday.
Of the 39 Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members hospitalized, McGuinty told reporters 27 are still “receiving medical treatment,” during a visit to the annual SpaceBound conference in Gatineau, Que., on Wednesday.
“Obviously, we are doing everything we can to provide the support,” the Liberal minister added, commending doctors, medical surgeons, plastic surgeons, and those still “fighting the fight.”
On a timeline for a Board of Inquiry on the matter to begin, McGuinty revealed he had already queried about that, but that the CAF will ultimately make the decision.
Regarding reports that the military was advised beforehand not to go forward with the live fire-training that took place at the time of the incident, McGuinty opted not to speculate, but wait for a full investigation to “take its course.”
