When asked about curtailing electricity exports to the U.S., Ford said, “All options are on the table, in my opinion. But I can't do it alone. We have other provinces that send electricity down to the US. We all have to be on the same page.” Ford, who’s taken a more conciliatory approach since calling Trump a “loser” and “the king of bankruptcies” on Monday, did not regret any of his comments, nor did he say Prime Minister Mark Carney asked him to tone down his rhetoric. However, he still didn’t hold back in his criticisms of Trump’s aggressive tariff policies on Canada, saying “President Reagan didn’t believe in tariffs. President Reagan believed in growing the economy on both sides of the border and around the world.” The Ontario premier also mentioned potential tools Canada had for negotiations, specifically calling out JD Vance’s claim that Canada treats the U.S.’s agricultural sector poorly. “What would happen if Scott Moe decided, okay, I’m rerouting the potash,” Ford said, “If we ever cut out potash, their agricultural sector would be dead overnight. Absolutely dead.” “Either be fair to us or deal with Russia. Get your potash off Russia. See how well they treat you.” He added.
