More than one million people remained stranded on Sunday as heavy rain continued, according to the country's disaster management ministry. In the hill district of Bandarban, road links with the rest of the country were severely disrupted as highways were submerged and landslides blocked key routes. Swollen rivers inundated surrounding areas, forcing many villagers from their homes. Volunteers worked around the clock to assist affected communities, distributing hot meals and emergency supplies to stranded residents. However, local people said many remote areas in the hill districts had yet to receive adequate aid.
