Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu echoed Trump’s sentiments, suggesting the onslaught would “allow the brave Iranian people to rid themselves of the burden of this murderous regime.” “Help has arrived,” Netanyahu said in a video message. “I believe the day is near when Israel and free Iran will hold hands in favour of security and peace, in favour of progress and prosperity,” he added. An Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson claimed the operation was launched “against a concrete threat” allegedly directed at Israel. “We identified that the [Iranian] regime continues to advance offensive plans against the State of Israel, centred on the restoration and acceleration of ballistic missile production,” Brig.-Gen. Effie Defrin said.
