Putin says Russia has captured key Ukrainian town of Pokrovsk, Kyiv's military denies report

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChLtXXpo4Ge1ReTEboVvTDg https://ift.tt/OrP36Tk Russian President Vladimir Putin was briefed Sunday by Valery Gerasimov, chief of the Russian military's General Staff, who informed Putin that Russian forces had captured the towns of Pokrovsk (in the Donetsk region) and Vovchansk in Kharkiv region. Putin told Gerasimov and other senior commanders the capture of the key Ukrainian town of Pokrovsk would enable the military to proceed with its tasks in its offensive operations in Ukraine. Meanwhile, Ukrainians in Kyiv voiced doubt over the capture of Pokrovsk. Russia has faced fierce Ukrainian resistance in its battle since mid-2024 to capture Pokrovsk, once a strategic logistics hub for the Ukrainian army. Ukraine still holds the northern part of Pokrovsk, the military corps fighting in the city told Reuters on Tuesday.
