Nightclub fire claims 25 lives in Goa, India

Indian authorities have ordered an investigation into whether or not fire safety norms and building construction norms were followed. “Arrest warrants have been issued against the club owners. Managers and others have already been arrested. After the magisterial inquiry, whoever is found guilty will be put behind bars,” Pramod Sawant, India’s Goa State Chief said. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted on X that his office would offer compensation of up to 200,000 rupees ($2,200) to each family of the victims and 50,000 rupees to the injured. According to government data, Goa is a popular tourist destination with roughly 5.5 million visitors in the first half of the 2025.
