https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChLtXXpo4Ge1ReTEboVvTDg https://ift.tt/lwgMqAE Sylvain Charlebois, Director of Dalhousie University’s Agri-Food Analytics Lab, joins Global’s Nivrita Ganguly to discuss why Canada’s Food Price Report 2026 predicts that the average family will pay nearly $1,000 more for food next year. The report, released on Dec. 4th, 2025 suggests multiple key factors that significantly affected food prices in Canada this year, including the GST/HST holiday, the U.S. trade dispute, the buy Canadian movement and interest rate cuts. When asked whether the upcoming Grocery code of conduct, set to begin in 2026, would be enforced effectively, Charlebois responded, “I certainly hope, we did get some good news this week, Loblaws has signed on officially, it is the only grocer but I think that Loblaws is probably the most important grocer to make things work. Let’s face it, grocers have too much power and a lot of people think that grocers are profiteering and abusing consumers. Its actually the other way around; grocers tend to abuse manufacturers with extra fees.” For more info, please go to https://ift.tt/r9mBhsV Subscribe to Global News Channel HERE: http://bit.ly/20fcXDc Like Global News on Facebook HERE: http://bit.ly/255GMJQ Follow Global News on X HERE: http://bit.ly/1Toz8mt Follow Global News on Instagram HERE: https://bit.ly/2QZaZIB #GlobalNews
