Trump commended Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for having the “courage” to agree to the deal, suggesting it signified “the end of [the] war” in Gaza, as a ceasefire continues to hold. Before Israeli and U.S. officials, Netanyahu vowed he was “committed to peace” in the Middle East, telling Trump, “Together, we will achieve this peace.” Once the hostages crossed into Israeli territory, Israel began releasing dozens of Palestinian prisoners as part of Trump’s agreement. Trump referred to the act as “the historic dawn of a new Middle East.” Trump arrived in Egypt shortly after for a peace summit with several other world leaders to discuss future developments on an anticipated second phase in the ongoing peace agreement.
