The Taliban government’s chief spokesperson and Pakistan’s defence minister confirmed the truce on Sunday. Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said Monday that the fragile truce is dependent on the Taliban’s ability to reign in militants who the Pakistani government says have launched attacks from inside Afghanistan.
