39 killed in India after political rally stampede, police file case against actor-politician's party

The dead included children, and roughly 50 others were injured in the Saturday's stampede. Vijay was campaigning for his Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam party in Tamil Nadu ahead of state elections in early 2026. State police filed the case — the first step toward potential charges — "against TVK party senior leaders Bussy Anand, Nirmal Kumar and V.P. Mathiyalagan," senior police official V.
