Pope Francis remembered as a "voice of moral clarity" by Canada's leaders

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChLtXXpo4Ge1ReTEboVvTDg https://ift.tt/HsJw4Ag Canadian leaders are reacting to the death of Pope Francis on Easter Monday, which came more than two months after he was hospitalized for a respiratory infection. "Pope Francis was a voice of moral clarity, spiritual courage, and boundless compassion," said Liberal Leader Mark Carney at a campaign stop in Charlottetown. "There have been countless millions of Catholics and non-Catholics that have been inspired by his leadership in faith and other domains, and our prayers are with all Catholics as they lay to rest the head of the Catholic Church," said Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre, at a campaign stop in east Toronto. NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh said that he attended Pope's visit in 2022 where he offered an apology for the Catholic church’s role in residential schools. "It was a very powerful moment for many of the leaders that I met, many of the community members who talked about how hearing that apology from the Pope made them feel like they were taking a step forward on their healing journey," he said.
