Israel's army withdraws from central Gaza, leaves behind trail of destruction

The withdrawal was expected under the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. Drone footage showed destroyed buildings near the Netzarim corridor after the Israeli army's withdrawal. “We are steadfast and we’ve been patient under the rockets and strikes. They have deprived us of food and water but they haven’t deprived us of air, they haven’t managed to deprive us of air, we remained alive,” displaced Palestinian Um Mohammed said. Hamas celebrated the withdrawal as a victory, and the Hamas-run police force was deployed to the area to manage the flow of Palestinians crossing through. The Israeli military had no immediate comment.
