Israel to demand "complete demilitarization of Gaza" in ceasefire talks with Hamas

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChLtXXpo4Ge1ReTEboVvTDg https://ift.tt/EmVsG0b Speaking in Jerusalem on Tuesday, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar vowed Israel would begin negotiations on the anticipated second phase of its ceasefire in Gaza – more than two weeks after the discussion was supposed to occur. When at the bargaining table, Saar said Israel will demand “complete demilitarization of Gaza,” meaning no further “presence of Hamas or any other terrorist groups.” The first phase of the three-part ceasefire deal, which includes the return of 33 Israeli hostages in return for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, has remained on track despite a series of setbacks and accusations of violations that had threatened to derail the entire thing. Qatar – who mediated and brokered the initial ceasefire agreement with Egypt and the U.S. last month – said Tuesday, that they are “pushing with our partners in the mediation to make sure that they start as soon as possible in order for us to have enough time to discuss them.” Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari also emphasized Israel should allow for “a full opening of aid entry to Gaza,” as the famished population struggles to re-settle across the war-torn region.
