On Friday at around 11:30 am, police responded to an abduction call in the area of Eglinton Avenue East and Midland Avenue. Three children — four-month-old Anastasia, three-year-old Irina and six-year-old Daniel — were having a supervised visit with a family member when their mother, 22-year-old Somerda Miclescu, allegedly fled with them despite not having legal custody. At a Saturday news conference, Toronto police Insp. Jeff Allington said authorities are also looking for 25-year-old Ionut Stroe, the owner of the vehicle allegedly used in the abduction. Stroe owns a white 2017 Ford Expedition with Ontario licence plate DJJS 875. He is also wanted on four counts of failing to comply with a release order in an unrelated matter. Allington told reporters police do not believe Miclescu intends to “hurt or harm” her children.
