Over the past week, world leaders have stood before their counterparts at the annual gathering, speaking on major global issues impacting them, and successes in their respective countries. Speaking with reporters outside the UN's New York City headquarters on Wednesday, Anand offered a "precursor" of Canada's speech, revealing it will represent Canadian foreign policy in Ukraine, the Middle East and Arctic sovereignty, among other topics. Anand's speech comes days after U.S. President Donald Trump's, who did not address the ongoing U.S.-Canada trade war, but acknowledged his recently signed Arctic security deal with Denmark and Greenland. Trump previously has pushed for the U.S. to annex both Greenland and Canada, partly for the benefit of their Arctic presences.
