US Defense Secretary warns of “dangerous” immigrants in Europe in 82nd D-Day anniversary speech

Hegseth told the audience in Colleville-Sur-Mer, “When will European capitals do something about that invasion? Or is it too late? I pray not, and I believe not,” he added. To face this supposed threat, Hegseth called for stronger alliances, saying nations must share burdens and stand “shoulder to shoulder” to defend freedom. “We apply the lessons from 82 years ago learned on these beaches,” he said. June 6 marks the day more than 150,000 allied soldiers invaded France to drive out Hitler's forces, taking roughly 10,250 casualties in the process, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission reports.
