French Navy boarding Russian oil tanker “bordering on international piracy,” Kremlin says

French Navy personnel boarded the Tagor vessel on Sunday in the Atlantic Ocean, which French President Emmanuel Macron says was subject to international sanctions. Macron said that it is ''unacceptable'' that Russian tankers ''skirt international sanctions... and finance the war against Ukraine” simultaneously. These operations come even after Washington eased sanctions on Russian oil – amid global supply issues brought on by the U.S.-Iran war. Speaking Monday, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said France's action was “illegal'' and ''bordering on international piracy,” adding Moscow would take measures to ensure the safety of shipping cargo in response to the incident.
