https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChLtXXpo4Ge1ReTEboVvTDg https://ift.tt/tOniHBa Canada-U.S. Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc announced massive funding from the federal government Wednesday for New Brunswick’s Gagetown Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) base. $871 million will be utilized to “recapitalize” the hub’s primary army training center, LeBlanc revealed, with another $172 million going towards new ground-based air defence capabilities. Additionally, the federal government will invest in CAF personnel, strengthening access to career, health and administrative services and an upgraded transition centre to support veterans adjusting to civilian life. The announcement comes days after Prime Minister Mark Carney revealed Canada had achieved NATO’s two per cent defence spending goal Wayne Long, secretary of state responsible for financial institutions, said the latest government investments come as part of their efforts to meet the military alliance's 2035 five per cent target.
