BC’s political landscape “a problem for the whole country,” says Christy Clark

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChLtXXpo4Ge1ReTEboVvTDg https://ift.tt/8tDoSFi It is a contentious issue that has put Alberta in one corner and B.C. in another – and now Ottawa has picked a side. Prime Minister Mark Carney signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Alberta Premier Danielle Smith Thursday, which aims to lay the groundwork for a new pipeline to the B.C. coast. As a result, the future of the oil tanker ban in northern B.C. waters is now in question. The B.C. government and Coast First Nations, however, are vowing to do everything in their power to keep the tanker ban in place, citing the “catastrophic” impact a future oil spill could have on the region. Christy Clark tells David Akin that B.C. Premier David Eby’s position on the tanker ban is “totally performative” and says the political landscape in B.C. is “a problem for the whole country.” Plus, Northwest Territories Premier R.J. Simpson joins The West Block to discuss resource issues that are key to the entire country.
