https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChLtXXpo4Ge1ReTEboVvTDg https://ift.tt/Sf76bty Japan's upper house election on Sunday dealt a big blow to the ruling coalition Prime Minister Ishiba's Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), which has ruled Japan for most of its post-war history. The LDP with its coalition partner Komeito returned 47 seats, short of the 50 seats it needed to ensure a majority in the 248-seat upper chamber, in an election where half the seats were up for grabs. Ishiba vowed on Monday to remain in office after suffering the defeat in upper house elections, prompting some from his own party to deliberate his future, as the opposition weighed a no-confidence motion. Meanwhile, hundreds showed up for Japan’s far-right Sanseito party’s rally where supporters celebrated their victory in Tokyo, after the fringe far-right party emerged as one of the biggest winners in the elections.
