Ford "appreciates" Trump calling him "strong man"; says US reached out with tariff "olive branch"

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChLtXXpo4Ge1ReTEboVvTDg https://ift.tt/JAM3ayc Speaking to reporters at Queen's Park on Wednesday, Ontario Premier Doug Ford disputed U.S. President Donald Trump's claim that the tumultuous events of Tuesday represented a win for the United States, saying such a statement was just "playing politics." Ford also said United States Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick was the one who reached out to him to offer an "olive branch" on the ongoing issue of U.S. import tariffs. Canada is hitting back at the United States with additional counter-tariffs worth $29.8 billion in response to new duties on Canadian steel and aluminum as a trade war between the two North American neighbours escalates. The federal government made the announcement after a 25 per cent tariff imposed by the U.S. on all steel and aluminum imports from Canada and America’s other trading partners went into effect Wednesday.
