Rasmussen said there are many ways for the U.S. to increase its presence in Greenland under the terms of a 1951 defence agreement. He added that the U.S. has also not done enough to ensure Greenland’s security, pointing to the closure of all but one of 17 military installations that had been active during the Cold War.
