Cyberabad Police Commissioner CV Sajjanar said that one of the accused, Mohammed Arif, was the first to open fire, even as the police team that took them to the crime scene were attacked with stones and sticks. The snatched weapons were in an "unlocked" position, he added. Meanwhile, the Centre has sought a report from the Telangana government over the "custodial killing" of Telangana veterinarian's alleged perpetrators. Earlier the day, in a sudden development in the Hyderabad horror, the four accused in the case – Areef, Shiva, Naveen and Chennakeshavulu – have been shot dead by the Telangana police in an alleged encounter. Police said that the accused, who were taken to the scene of the crime for a reconstruction of the crime attempted to escape. Two policemen were also injured in the incident, they said.
